Swedish vocals, other languages
International relevance: *
With a title frighteningly close to
”Palestina, mitt blod, min väg, mitt land”, Gothenburg's part Swedish part Arabic Kofia could be
another Bruksteatern horror shock but it's not. The subject is indeed
the same, Palestina vs. Israel with – obviously – a militant
pro-Palestinian, but the music is vastly
different, performed on Arabic instruments and not progg in a strict sense. A couple of the songs
are also sung in Arabic but I have no reason to suspect their message
is any different to those sung in Swedish. They Arabic songs are also easier to
listen to for someone who like me isn't familiar with the language. The songs
are quite good in general but the relentless pathos is too much.
Kofia released two more albums, in 1978 and 1984.
