HARALD HEDNING – Harald Hedning (Garageland, 2002; recorded 1974)

Instrumental
International relevance: ***

Entirely unknown band until less scrupulous label Garageland Records unearthed ten 1974 recordings and released them on CD in 2002. Harald Hedning sounds like a gang of not entirely untalented Trettioåriga Kriget fans hiding in a basement and a reel-to-reel tape recorder and some faint folk music inspirations. It should be noted though that six tracks were recorded in studio at the Swedish Radio.

All tracks are instrumental and it makes them sound unfinished, as if the original idea was to overdub vocals later. ”Humangagga” begins pretty good before suddenly tripping over its own feet, or perhaps Myrbein's feet, disintegrating into a mess of disjointed rhythms too complicated for Harald Hedning to handle.

All in all, this is just another attempt at cashing in on the general interest in progg. I can't believe that a lot of people would have missed this if it had stayed unreleased.

Third part missing
